Chemical Reactions Supplemental

10/12/2017

Today you will be performing a series of chemical reactions and analyzing the products.  You have nine aqueous solutions and at least three metallic samples.  I believe you have already completed the metallic tests, so make sure you have your data ready for me to check.

When two aqueous solutions are combined, double replacement reactions occur.  Remember, this is a switching of ions in the reactants to make new products.  Evidence that a reaction takes place includes: (1) change in temperature, (2) gas production (bubbles), (3) change in color, and (4) formation of a precipitate (which is a solid).  Precipitates must be filtered.

You have the materials and equipment at your tables.  For each combination of reactants, I want to see the equation written on your table and your prediction of possible products.  Someone in your group needs to document all of the reactions and keep up with the evidence that a reaction took place.
